Dr Lakmini Dona

Dr Lakmini Dona is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) with more than 12 years of experience in psychiatry. Having trained in Sri Lanka and Australia, she provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults, with particular expertise in psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Professional Bio
Dr Lakmini Dona is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). She has more than 12 years of experience in psychiatry and has worked in Australia since 2015.
She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2006 and originally trained as a psychiatrist in Sri Lanka before relocating to Australia. Since then, she has worked across a range of rural and regional mental health services in Queensland as a General Adult Psychiatrist.
Dr Dona has experience across the spectrum of adult mental health conditions, including psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and personality disorders. She has a special interest and extensive experience as a supervisor in long-term psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety disorders, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for borderline personality disorder.
